Wouldn’t it be great if every single person in this world had to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth every day, every week of the year? This was the subject of a Jim Carrey film called “Liar, Liar.” And it would be lovely indeed if something like this were to inflict a certain Political non-party called the GOP.

“I don’t care about anything but confirming Judges,” Moscow Mitch might say. “The reason I always do what Trump says is because…” Lindsey Graham might say. “I’m a dweeb, and I know it,” Josh Hawley might say. What about George Santos? Is he capable of telling the truth even if he had to?

Perhaps not because the lies just keep on coming, and the latest possible one is from 2016. Santos claimed in Housing Court that he was mugged. This deeply affected him because the mugger or muggers stole all his money, leaving him unable to pay hundreds of dollars he owned to his landlord in back rent.

Ah — you see where this is going, I’m sure. So, of course, not paying the money he owed seemed to really piss off his landlord. And the case was taken to court. This was in Queens, New York.

Santos described this horrific attack in detail. He said it happened, in fact, just as he was on his way to pay up!

Only there is a problem. The police department doesn’t have any record of any mugging of Santos. The back rent was $2,250. Santos insisted he was “jumped.” “I have been mugged,” he wrote in an affidavit. “I am unable to provide a police report today as I was requested to go back Tuesday to pick it up.”

Right. The NYPD was contacted by Gothamist, who broke the story, and the NYPD said it had no evidence that George Santos had ever been jumped. “There is nothing on file,” a spokesperson for the police said. Oh — Santos also represented himself in court. Do I need to tell you he lost?
