Just how big of fools have House Republican leaders made out of themselves with this week’s ongoing Speaker vote debacle? They’ve actually managed to get the media to temporarily forget about the George Santos scandal. But don’t worry, the Santos scandal is just getting started. In fact he’s busy making things even worse for himself.

Because of the Speaker debacle, newly elected members of Congress have not been sworn in yet. But George Santos apparently wants us to believe that he was actually sworn in back in December, because he’s now claiming that he voted against the Omnibus budget on December 23rd of last year. Such a feat wouldn’t have been possible even if he had been sworn in this week as originally scheduled.

In other words, George Santos is just going to keep lying nonstop about everything as things move forward. The government of Brazil says it’s preparing to criminally charge Santos for fraud he committed years ago, and put him on trial there whether he attends it or not. If he’s convicted, Brazil would presumably move to extradite him. At the same time, he’s reportedly under federal and local criminal investigation in the United States. And the minute the Speaker debacle finally resolves itself, the media will surely turn its focus right back to Santos.
